I experienced my first magnitude 7.0-7.5 earthquake when I was almost 23 months old. It almost knocked me to the ground. That 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake struck Vancouver Island on June 23 at 10:15 a.m.[1] with a magnitude estimated at 7.0 Ms[2] and 7.5 Mw.[6] The main shock epicenter occurred in the Forbidden Plateau area northwest of Courtenay. While most of the large earthquakes in the Vancouver area occur at tectonic plate boundaries, the 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake was a crustal event. Shaking was felt from Portland, Oregon, to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. This is one of the most damaging earthquakes in the history of British Columbia, but damage was restricted because there were no heavily populated areas near the epicentre, where severe shaking occurred. There were, however, a whole series of landslides in the Forbidden Plateau area there were a whole series of landslides blocked streams and rivers to create lakes. The first hikers into the area gave them great names, Landslide Lake, Rock Fall Lake, Earthquake Lake etc.; over time these natural dams were eroded to nothing, leaving nothing but fading memories of those lakes. This earthquake is Canada's largest historic onshore earthquake.[1] Three years later, an earthquake, an M8.1, struck at 8:01 p.m. PDT on August 2, 1949 in Haida Gwaii [formerly Queen Charlotte Islands], an interplate earthquake that occurred on the ocean bottom just off the west coast of the main south island [Graham Island]. The shock had a surface wave magnitude of 8.1 and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VIII (Severe).

Right in the Face of our Children and Grandchildren ~ Petrochemical, Oil and Chemical Pollutants
fill the sky and in the water below.  Under this toxic sludge is Canada's almost completed
National Western Tidewater Oil & Gas Export Terminal for Alberta Tarsand, Crude Oil and Gas.
Chevron Oil Refinery and Hooker Chemical also contribute to this
Toxic Mess & Waste being pumped into our children's and grandchildren's faces and lungs and in the water below,
where our seafood is poisoned.  This is all on Tsleil-Waututh Nation Land.  I (Stan G. Webb - In Retirement© TM ®) audited First Nations for over 34 years and never once, not ever even once did I see any paperwork showing that anyone actually paid the owners for the land.  NOT once, NOT anything at all.  Even under British Law, that makes us trespassers.

-  you will be WELCOMED YOU TO THE "GREATEST SHOW ON DIRT” Here was a man who, for the very first time in my whole life, I heard a man speak the truth, with great power, authority, power and dignity.  I had gone to Lynn Valley Elementary School for Grade Three when I was nine years old.  My own grandfather had died and so while I was living on Tsleil-Waututh Nation Land I thought of Me'Geswanouth Slahoot as my grandfather.  I am not a Tsleil-Waututh Nation man.  I am Celtic Irish Canadian.

Miigwetch! ----------------------------- Grandfather-Chief Dan George "Geswanouth Slahoot" Tsleil-Waututh (Salish) On This Earth: 1899-1981 Chief Dan George was the Chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, a Coast Salish band, whose Reserve is located on Burred Inlet, in the southeast area of the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was also an actor, poet and author; his best-known written work was "My Heart Soars". As an actor, he is remembered for portraying Old Lodge Skins opposite Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man (1970), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. By his film roles and personal appearances, Grandfather Dan George helped improve the popular image of Indigenous people, often represented in stereotypical ways. .“When the white man came, we had the land and they had the bibles.
